Children & Teenagers

Children's Work

Children are valued members of our congregation. We look for ways to include children in all we do.
Our aim is to provide a supportive but stretching environment where children grow in their faith and build relationships with others. Around half our services will be family services where all age groups worship together.

At our other services we provide separate groups for children to worship and learn in ways tailored to their age group. Initially, we will divide children into pre-school and primary school age groups. However, we will also be flexible and vary group structures and the age groups covered as the need arises.

Impax - 11 - 15 years

This is a youth group for 11 – 15 year olds held at the Paxcroft Community Centre every Wednesday evening and is a joint venture between St Thomas’ and Maranatha Church. It is attended by young people from both church and non-church backgrounds and a warm welcome awaits.

Twice a year the group look forward to a weekend away at two different camps –Viney Hill and Spree. Viney Hill is a Christian Adventure Centre in the Forest of Dean with an emphasis on outward bound pursuits and include activities such as orienteering, canoeing, raft building, abseiling, climbing, archery, and team building games. Spree is another outdoor adventure centre based in Huish Woods, Taunton and you can expect similar fun activities and others including gigs and talent shows, messy games and sport.

Both weekends offer a programme of inspiring sessions designed to present the Good News of Jesus Christ in a way that is fun and really relevant to everyday life.

Apprentices – 16 and over

Young people over the age of 16 are welcome to join their peers at St Thomas Church on a Sunday morning at 10.30am. We are a very friendly bunch.

We meet on the 1st, 4th & 5th Sundays in the month except during the Summer holidays. Some of us also go to "Essence", a service for Christian young people in and around Trowbridge.
This meets at 7:30pm on the 2nd Sunday of every month at Bethesda Church, Newtown, Trowbridge.
